At Element Six we inhabit this extreme world of supermaterials. These materials, by their very name, are in a class of their own when it comes to properties and performance. They are expected to work under conditions where other materials can’t for example, in tools that are drilling for oil and gas deposits deep in the earth and at some of the most inhospitable corners of the world.
Supermaterials are allowing us to develop new products that achieve higher levels of performance such as in the latest generation of high power cutting lasers. Supermaterials also allow us to consider new technologies such as the development of new clean energy sources like fusion or novel ways of cleaning up industrial wastewater or electronic components that operate at ever higher powers.
At Element Six our supermaterials cover a family of materials that offer formidable performance under extreme conditions. At their core are three different material types – synthetic diamond, cubic boron nitride and tungsten carbide.
