Dr Ian Friel, Research Scientist at Element Six, is presenting a paper at the Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO) and The International Quantum Electronics Conference (IQEC) on 2 June 2009. This conference is one of the leading forums for the development of advanced optics in the world and is a 5-day event held at Baltimore in the US between 31 May and 5 June.
The paper, written by four Element Six employees, is entitled “High Quality Synthetic Single Crystal Diamond for Novel Optical Applications”. It describes the r ecent breakthroughs in single crystal diamond synthesis by chemical vapour deposition that have lead to reproducible material of exceptionally high quality and of practical size, for a range of novel laser and photonics applications.
