The MIDDI Project

Element Six

The Micromachined Diamond Device Initiative or MIDDI is a project led by researchers at Element Six Ltd (E6) in collaboration with the Institute of Photonics at the University of Strathclyde . The project collaborators are developing world-leading technologies for diamond microelectronic device manufacturing.  MIDDI runs until 2008 and is part-funded by the UK government.

MIDDI is focused on the development of a ‘tool-kit’ of advanced micro- and nano-scale manufacturing technologies for next generation high-frequency and high-power electronic devices based on synthetic single crystal diamond.  Novel diamond electronic devices are expected to have a range of applications in communications and power switching.
