Synthetic diamond electrodes can be used for the treatment of industrial wastewaters and landfill leachates which are difficult or impossible to treat by conventional means.

Boron-doped synthetic diamond has unique electrochemical properties enabling efficient oxidation of organic and inorganic compounds. Two Element Six venture companies, Advanced Oxidation Ltd. and Electrolytic Ozone Inc., are developing technologies to exploit synthetic diamond’s superior characteristics for these applications.

Advanced Oxidation Ltd. designs and builds electrochemical reactors using boron-doped synthetic diamond electrodes for the treatment of industrial wastewaters and landfill leachates which are difficult or impossible to treat by conventional means. This is a truly green technology that requires no chemical additions.

Electrolytic Ozone Inc. has developed and commercialised a revolutionary platform for generating ozone in water. Ozone kills nearly every known pathogen and is one of the most effective deodorisers known to man. Synthetic diamond anodes enable ozone to be produced on a scale that is suitable for homes, restaurants, hotels and hospitals more efficiently and more reliably than any other technology currently available.
