Spray dryer powder processing

Spray dryer powder processing

Using Element Six synthetic diamond composite material technology will lead to a 10-15 times lifetime improvement.

Element Six has recently developed a superhard nozzle designed for use in spray dryer powder processing. This new generation of high performance nozzle has been manufactured using our proprietary silicon cemented diamond (SCD) composite material technology, and meets the challenges presented by the most abrasive of powders.

Our synthetic diamond composite solutions
Element Six silicon cemented diamond (SCD) composite nozzles give significant commercial and technical advantages over traditional tungsten carbide materials and allow the end-user to utilise valuable spray dryer capacity in a more cost effective and efficient way. The commercial benefits of using silicon cemented diamond (SCD) composite materials for spray dryer powder processing include: reduced equipment downtime due to less frequent nozzle changes, reduced running costs and consumable costs, and improved product consistency and yield.

The manufacturing benefits of using silicon cemented diamond (SCD) composite materials for spray dryer powder processing include: increased powder throughput without nozzle change, at typically a 10-15 times lifetime improvement, significantly improved batch powder size distribution, a five-fold improvement over conventional materials, significant reduction in green body compaction due to improved powder consistency, reduced tool wear due to lower compaction pressures, significant improvement in homogeneity and the density of pressed powder components, and reduced running pump pressures.
