Piet du Randt Pretorius
Executive Director Group Technical
Piet was appointed Executive Director of Production for Element Six Abrasives in 2004 and took on the role of Executive Director Group Technical starting in January 2011. Piet studied Metallurgical Engineering at Pretoria University as a De Beers bursar before joining the Diamond Research team in Johannesburg in 1975. Piet subsequently held a number of roles with De Beers Industrial including Manager of Debex Electronics (x-ray machines) as well as setting up graphite manufacturing and pyrophyllite processing plants for synthetic diamond synthesis. In 1989, he was appointed General Manager Debex Springs including multiple materials engineering plants in Springs, Boksburg and Cape Town before being appointed in 1996 as General Manager Ultra High Pressure in Springs and refocusing on synthetic diamond synthesis.
