Ann Cormack

Non-Executive Director 

Ann was appointed De Beers Executive Head, Human Resources, on 1 October 2017. She joined De Beers Group from Rolls-Royce, where she was Director International from 2013, responsible for the international team and global government relations. She was previously Managing Director for Energy at Xyntéo. 

The first 20 years of her career were spent working for Royal Dutch Shell, where she held various executive positions, latterly running Shell’s global internal consultancy B2B team and the European Fleet Fuel Cards business. 

She was then Managing Director of the Small Business Service in the UK Department for Trade and Industry and, subsequently, Chief Executive of a biofuel joint venture 50 per cent owned by BP. Ann holds an MA in modern languages from Edinburgh University and a post-graduate diploma in Russian from Strathclyde University, both in Scotland. 

Ann is a Non-Executive Director of the UK Government’s Foreign & Commonwealth Office Audit and Risk Assurance Committee, and a board member of the International Advisory Group of the Confederation of British Industry. She is also a council member of Chatham House, the Royal Institute for International Affairs. Ann served as council member of the British Institute of Energy Economics from 2005 to 2016, and chaired the council from 2006 to 2007.
